As I write this my littlest girl Harriet is on day three of a fever and is in my bed taking a nap. She's cuddled up with my favorite Donna Wilson hot water bottle, her little pink cheeks just visible at the top of the covers.
This has been a year of juggling priorities and of figuring out how to set my business in motion. Every few months I find myself deciding what to pursue and what to let go for now, or forever. It feels like a good and necessary exercise for the way life is at the moment.
I turned 45 in November, ten days after my shop's one year anniversary. I had always thought that 40 would feel like the more momentous milestone, but I was completely occupied with a 6 month-old baby and a toddler and would soon be expecting a third girl. Forty was about caring for small humans with all of the attending sleep deprivation and domestic chaos – often blissful, sometimes not. At 45 though, I'm coming out of the fog. At least I think I am. It's possible I said the same thing last year and don't remember...
Either way, I'm moving forward. Stay tuned!
